Canton, Michigan Community Guide...
In Canton, Michigan, you will find one of the fastest growing communities in all of Wayne County.
We have a keen sense of where we came from and a clear vision of where we are headed. Our community offers a unique blend of rural and suburban character, traditional and modern values, and historical and futuristic perspectives.
Canton Michigan was established more than 162 years ago with family
homesteads dating back to the 1840's and historic schoolhouses dating from the 1870's.
With a population growth of more than 420 percent since 1970, Canton now stands at over 76,000 people, but more than 35 percent of our 36 square miles remains undeveloped, rural open space.
The population growth we have seen is expected to continue through to 2000 as more and more people discover what Canton has to offer both newcomers and longtime residents.
Canton's beautiful community center (Summit on the Park-pictured above), the Downtown Development Authority "Streetscape" and the Pheasant Run golf/residential community, all offer a taste of the future in our community.
Canton Michigan Housing Market:
Canton, Michigan offers a wide variety of home styles to choose from. Prospective home buyers
will find houses and condominiums that are well suited for many budgets.
Canton offers home buyers many choices in regards to construction styles and types of homes. Some examples include...
- A large subdivision of homes called "Cherry Hill Village" that is relatively new but the exterior of the homes and subdivision
plats are reminiscent of small town living in the 1920's....a very unique development of homes!
- Some subdivisions built in the 50's and 60's that consisting of primarily brick homes.
- Many homes built in the 1970's and 1980's contained within winding subdivision streets.
- Many condominiums that offer a variety of amenities
- Many new and newer construction homes and condominiums. Most are located in the western sections of Canton. Some new / newer contruction homes include luxury homes that offer expansive living spaces on an upscale level.
